On Harian Pagi Tribun Batam Saturday March 12, 2005 Roy Suryo wrote an analysis titled: Perang Sudah Mulai (The War has Begun).

Menurut saya, memang sekarang ini - mau nggak mau - sudah terjadi perang antar-hacker. Sejak awal, ketika teman-teman dari Jakarta hacker dan Medan hacker menyerang situs-situs Malaysia, saya sudah menyayangkan hal itu.

Mengapa? Dengan melakukan serangan itu berarti kita sudah melakukan tindakan penyerangan lebih dulu. Itu artinya, kita dianggap berbuat salah terlebih dahulu. Padahal sebenarnya kalau kita lihat, pada kasus Ambalat memang terjadi perbedaan persepsi. Belum tentu semua teman-teman hacker memahami persoalan yang ada.

It looks like after being hail as cyber clown by Indonesian IT community (mostly blogger) because of his weird logic and unfounded comments / accusations on various media, he tries to befriend Indonesian hackers by referring to them as friends. Personally I don’t know any of them or Roy Suryo himself, but real hackers in my understanding are creative and resourceful people that can not simply be bought by nice words. They know who they are, they know their role in the internet community and they surely know who their friends are.

He then talk about spoofing (he must’ve ment IP Spoofing) and the possibility of Indonesian hackers posing as Malaysian hackers attacking Indonesian websites.

Dan, yang kita ketahui, kalau hacker yang menyerang menyebutkan identitas tidak ada masalah. Justru yang menjadi masalah adalah mereka mengaku siapa saja dan menggunakan teknik spoofing, kita seolah-olah berada di tempat lain.

Saya khawatir ada pihak ketiga yang ikut bermain. Konkretnya, ada orang Indonesia yang mengaku hacker Malaysia lalu menggunakan kesempatan ini untuk menyerang situs-situs di Indonesia.

And what about the possibility that Malaysian hackers or hackers from any other country started the attack on Malaysian websites? Since he knows so much about hacking and stuff (not to mention ‘the fact’ that he actually is their friend ), he must have had solid proofs that it is indeed Indonesian hackers who started the attack, that’s why the chance that Malaysian websites was attacked by other parties can be easily ruled out.

He must’ve feel the urge to talk about this because on March 10 in an earlier article in Jawa Pos he forgot (?) to talk about this to the press and some of us (Idban Secandri, RoySuryoWatch) already wrote rebuttals.

I’m not aware whether this so called ‘analysis’ have been published on other media, but after writing readers mail on various newspapers because he seldom quoted by journalists lately, it seems like he is now exploring other options in his attempt to uphold his ‘Pakar TI‘ (Indonesian IT Expert) title such as writing on smaller scale newspaper outside Java.
