One Page Websites, How Effective Are They?

You must have seen those affiliate websites that consist of only one lengthy page offering some ‘great stuff’. The structure of the page is similar one another. First a catchy title. Then a paragraph explaining the product/service complete with a ‘picture’ of the product/service. Next are some ‘testimonials’ from some people about how the said product/service has improved the life and/or the income of those people. Next usually about how to buy/join the product/service and some ’special offer’ or ‘exclusive offer’ that you can get for a limited period of time. Another important thing, which usually included is a newsletter or announcement registration form.

I encounter more and more of this kind of websites, so maybe they are effective enough to get people to buy or join whatever those websites offer. However you can easily see that actually there are two different models of these one page websites. The most common one is the auto generated, which is actually same content with some inserted words, usually names of the affiliate. Because the structure and content of websites are the same and came from one domain name, they usually have poor or no positions on search engines.

The second model belongs to smarter webmasters. Smarter webmasters would buy their own domain name and write their own content. They will then optimize their website using legitimate SEO technique to get their website a decent position in the SERP, Search Engine Result Pages. They figure out which keywords works best, how to layout the page so it would not ward off visitors while keep it search engine friendly, emphasize the most important aspects and hide the weak points of what they are offering, and last but not least, put as much important information as possible without making the page too long to read.

With poor or even no positions on the search engine result pages, the ‘webmasters’ of the first model would have to resort to black hat methods such as spamming to trick visitors to visit their website. Of course there are webmasters of the second model that still go the evil ways to promote their websites.

If you want to stay in affiliate business for a long time and want to build a one page website, it is advisable to choose the second model. There are lots of examples all over the internet for you to start. You can study them and examine how they get their position in the search engine using their specific keywords.
